Jules - Tenor Saxophone

Julian's great reputation is best summarised by Lee Konitz, the alto saxophone legend of Miles Davis's 'Birth of the Cool' band, who recently recommended that:

'A remarkable musician, Julian would be comfortable playing with any of the named musicians on the International jazz scene. His sense of musicality, timing and general perception is remarkable.'

A self-taught saxophonist of over 25 years standing, Julian is an established and highly regarded performer on the London jazz bar and club circuit. His London performances have also included The Melia White House Hotel, Cafe de Paris and Savoy Hotel, and he has performed further afield in New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Alaska, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain and Denmark. He has worked for Cunard and the BBC and appeared in the 2004 film release 'Shoreditch', beside Joely Richardson and Shane Ritchie. He has also performed with the 'who's who' of the London and International jazz scene, including the following musicians: Alex Garnett, Willie Garnett, Tim Armacost, Mel Martin, Frank Griffiths (saxophonists) - Leon Greening, Mike Gorman, Jim Watson, Richard Busiakiewicz, Kate Williams (pianists) - Carl Orr, Colin Oxley (guitarists) - Ron Mathewson, Matt Miles, Andy Cleyndert, Orlando Fleming, Dave Chamberlain, Tim Dawes (bass players) - Matt Skelton, Matt Fishwick, Milo Fell, Bill Eyden (drummers) - Enrico Tommaso (trumpet). Jules is renowned for his sound on saxophone, which our clients have described as 'audio velvet'.

Carole - Nylon-strung Guitar

Carole's career as a guitarist spans over 25 years. Her first residency was at the Stanneylands Hotel, Cheshire, and she has gone on to perform in Scotland, France, Greece, Spain and Wales. In Jersey, she has played at many prestigious events, including visits by the BBC Antiques Roadshow and the composer Tony Hatch, and at the launch of the Ford Galaxy. She has worked as a session guitarist and as a guitar tutor for Highlands College and the Jersey Arts Centre. Carole has enjoyed a long career as a solo guitarist in Jersey and is 'The Boss' of Bossa Basseline Music.

Mick - Jazz Guitar

Mick has been established for many years as Jersey's jazz guitarist of choice. He has a long and distinguished career as a live performer in the island and overseas and he has previously performed for many visiting stars, including Cilla Black, Ronnie Corbet and Cannon & Ball as part of the Fort Regent House Band. He was also a member of the Jack Duff Band.

Kenny - Percussion and Kit Drums

Kenny has a wealth of experience as a professional drummer in Jersey and overseas, including performing on cruise ships and international tours. An outstanding latin percussionist, Kenny also performs on kit drums for Bossa Basseline. He performed for many years with the Rod Plummer Trio in Jersey and overseas.

Our Ethos:

We aim to provide the best live music possible via talent, quality, attention to detail and integrity. We will always advise you if our style of music is appropriate or not for your needs, as our aim is always to please our much-valued and loyal clients.

Bossa Basseline Music started life in Jersey, Channel Islands, as a Duo, performing mainly bossa nova standards although our repertoire now is much more varied. The name of our collective is a fusion of Bossa (Brazilian for 'charm or natural flair') and, reflecting our island location, Basseline (French for 'the point at which the land meets the sea').

Our logo (below) was designed and illustrated by our guitarist, Carole, based on the ideas of our saxophonist, Jules.
